Possessing a deep expertise in crisis communication and strategic counsel, Dick Shaner, Jr. has forged an award-winning career managing a variety of public relations engagements. A graduate of Geneseo State College, he is past president of the Public Relations Society of America’s Buffalo Niagara Chapter. In 2001, he earned the organization’s Practitioner of the Year honor.
Dick was a broadcast journalist for several years but eventually concluded he would never achieve his boyhood dream of becoming the radio voice of the New York Yankees and made the transition to public relations. In the 1980s, he worked for Empire of America Federal Savings Bank in Buffalo. Dick’s reporting background helps him provide the kind of information that journalists are looking for.
When he’s not assisting his diverse client base, Dick is active in community affairs. During 2011 you’ll find him chairing the communication task force and handling publicity for the Sisters of St. Francis as they celebrate their 150th anniversary. A golf enthusiast, Dick has a thorough understanding of the USGA Handicap System and a hole-in-one to his credit. Dick and his wife, Jamie, are known for turning their backyard into a well-manicured summertime oasis and bird sanctuary.
